Motor Vehicle Safety Recalls


 

The vehicles listed below are being recalled for safety reasons.

Not all models are always involved. To find out if your vehicle is involved,

If your vehicle is being recalled by the manufacturer,

it is your responsibility as a vehicle operator to see that it gets repaired.

General Motors

2005-10 Cobalt; 2007-2010 Pontiac G5> Electric power steering causes sudden loss of steering assist. Dealers will replace the electric power steering motor.

GEM

2009 Neighborhood Electric Vehicles> Parking brake cable separates from the actuator handle allowing the vehicle to roll.

Hyundai

2011 Sonata made 12/11/09 to 2/15/10> Front inside door lock switch fails to latch allowing the door to open while the vehicle is in motion.

Mitsubishi

2004 Endeavor> Mud mixes with road salt and corrodes the fuel filler pipe causing fuel leakage.  (Recall in Arkansas Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, And Washington D.C, Wyoming, and Washington)

2010 Galant> Automatic transmission oil cooler pipe corrodes allowing ATF to leak and cause a fire.

Nissan

2005-2009 Titan, Armada, Infiniti QX56> Dash fuel gauge shows there’s fuel (typically a ¼ tank) tank is empty. Dealers will replace the fuel level sending unit.

2006-08 Frontier, Xterra, Pathfinder> Plastic Fuel tank warps and makes the fuel level sender to cause the fuel gauge to show ¼ tank when tank is empty. Dealers will replace the fuel level sending unit.

2008-2010 Titan, Armada, Infiniti QX56; 2008-2009 Quest> Brake pedal pivot pin slides out of place from the brake pedal bracket causing partial or complete loss of braking force.

Tires

Pep Boys Definity Dakota H/T 245/70R17 made 11/15 to 11/28/09> Tires develop tread chunking or cracking in the tread shoulder area; tread chunks cause vehicle body damage or cause the driver to lose control.

TBC Cyclone 245/70R17 made 11/15 to 11/28/09> Tires develop tread chunking or cracking in the tread shoulder area; tread chunks cause vehicle body damage or cause the driver to lose control.

Hercules Terra Trac 245/70R17 made 11/15 to 12/12/09> Tires develop tread chunking or cracking in the tread shoulder area; tread chunks cause vehicle body damage or cause the driver to lose control.


February Recalls

BMW

2010 X5, X6 SUVs made 12/14/09 to 12/14/09> Adhesive bonding in the upper right area of the windshield is insufficient to hold in a rollover crash.

2009-2010 7-Series; 2010 550i Grand Turismo> Tire pressure label indicates the vehicle's seating capacity is five (5) passengers when the actual seating capacity is four (4) passengers.

Chrysler

2005-2006 Dodge Caravan, Grand Caravan And Chrysler Town & Country> Water intrusion into the front crash sensors causes the airbag warning light to come on and operation of the airbag may be compromised. (recall in Connecticut, Delaware, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Alaska & The District Of Columbia)

Ford

2010 Mustang Shelby GT 500 made 10/28 to 12/3/09> Placard shows incorrect rear tire size information.

Honda

2001-02 Accord; 2001-03 Civic; 2002 CRV, Odyssey; 2002-03 Acura 3.2TL; 2003 Acura 3.2CL, Pilot> Driver’s airbag produces excessive explosive force which rupture it and propels metal fragments into the vehicle occupants.

2005 Odyssey with power operated rear liftgate> The power liftgate gas struts fail to hold the it open allowing it to unexpectedly fall on your head.

2007-2008 Fit> Water leaks shorts out the driver's master power window switch causing an electrical fire. Dealers will install a cover around the switch housing.

Hyundai

2010 Tucson> Passengers weighing 240 pounds or more cause the passenger seat occupant detection system to turn on the "Air Bag" warning lamp and the passenger airbag will be activated regardless of the size of the occupant.

Mazda

2010 CX-9> Poor ground on the electrically heated front seat control circuit causes the seat cushion surface to overheat in extremely cold conditions and possibly catch fire.

Saab

2004 9-3 Sedans> Front seat belt retractors fail to properly retract and may not restrain occupant in a crash.

Toyota

2006-2009 Sienna sold by Gulf States Toyota> Placard shows incorrect tire load carrying specifications.

2010 Camry 4-cyl 2AR-FE engine> Crimp on the power steering pressure hose abrades against the left rear brake pipe causing it to leak brake fluid and cause partial loss of braking ability.

2010 Prius, Lexus HS250H> ABS brakes apply on rough or slick roads causing slow brake reaction time and increased stopping distance. Dealers will install new ABS control unit programming.

2010 Tacoma Pickup Trucks> Drive shaft cracks causing it to fail and separate from the vehicle resulting in a loss of vehicle control.

Motorcycles

Piaggio: 2010 Aprilia RSV4, RSV4-R made 07/2 to 10/30/09> Faulty engine connecting rods cause unexpected engine failure and possible loss of control.

Tires

Cooper Discoverer H/T & LSX 245/70R17 made 11/15 to 12/12/09> Tires develop tread chunking or cracking in the tread shoulder area and the tread chunks may separate and cause damage to the vehicle or the driver may lose control.

Toyo Nitto Terra Grappler & Open Country A/T 305/50R20 120S; Proxes ST II 305/50R20> A wrinkle in the upper sidewall area may crack the sidewall causing the tire to fail.


January Recalls

Chrysler

2009-2010 Dodge Ram; 2010 Chrysler Sebring, Dodge Avenger, Nitro, Jeep Commander, Grand Cherokee, Liberty> Faulty or missing brake booster input rod retaining clip causes complete loss of brakes.

General Motors

2009-2010 Vibe> An unsecured or incompatible floor mat—or—internal binding inside the throttle pedal position sensor causes the accelerator pedal to stick in the applied position resulting in unintended acceleration. Note: This condition may be preceded by increased effort to press the accelerator pedal.

Honda

2006-2007 Ridgeline made 11/17/05 to 06/7/06> HVAC blower motor wiring harness connector located under the passenger’s side of the dash gets kicked and damaged causing it to short out and cause an electrical fire.

2010 Acura MDX made 10/7/09 to 11/14/09> Drivers or passenger side interior side trim piece on the A-pillar comes off when the airbag curtain is deployed and causes injury.

Toyota

2005-2010 Avalon; 2007-2010 Camry, Tundra; 2008-2010 Sequoia; 2009-2010 Corolla, Corolla Matrix, RAV4; 2010 Highlander> Internal binding inside the throttle pedal position sensor causes the accelerator pedal to bind in the applied position resulting in unintended acceleration. Note: This condition may be preceded by increased effort to press the accelerator pedal.

2008-2010 Highlander; 2009-2010 Corolla, Venza, Matrix> Accelerator pedal sticks in the wide open position by the floor mat or against the floor pan. Note: This recall is an expansion of a 2009 campaign of 3.8 million other Toyotas. Dealers will modify the shape of the accelerator pedal until redesigned pedals become available, and install redesigned floor mats. Dealers will replace the modified pedal with the newly redesigned pedal when it is released.
